Nipped to be Tipped: Buttercup to (Finally) Visit Vet

The last unaltered adult male in the 7th-8th Avenue North colony fell for the bait on Wednesday after countless attempts.

The subject in question: Buttercup, an orange and white longhair calico, has been socialized while evading the many traps set over the last year. Founder and president of Cats of the Boardwalk, Laurie Peterson, along with her husband Ron, finally managed to remove the handsome cat from the boardwalk yesterday for neutering.

But he wasn’t an easy catch. The cage-avoiding kitten she had seen grow into a stealthy adult, almost escaped during last night’s attempt as he was not willing to stay bag-trapped. Once Laurie got home to record her “bathroom post-trap video” last night, he had calmed down. A happy and smiling Laurie shows where Buttercup’s claws punctured her arm. Despite the struggle, Laurie is ecstatic as she talks about the successful bag-trapping session, and she is ready to celebrate.

“I said I would pop a bottle of champagne when I got this cat. I don’t have any champagne unless I make Ron go to the store right now. But I’ll have a drink. I’m just so excited,” — Laurie, COTB
