Kitten Fostered and Adult ‘Mia’ Rehomed

This past week, two boardwalk “feral” felines left behind tough lives at the beach.

A longhair tuxedo kitten finally took the bait earlier this week and is now in a foster home to be socialized before being placed up for adoption. The beautiful kitten’s sibling was already removed a couple of weeks earlier from the beach access at the Paradise General Store.

Then there’s the tabby sensation Mia who now has a furever home with Myrtle Beach local Jasmine Aguirre. For the last year or so, Mia’s been a favorite among the staff and tourists at Dirty Don’s. Jasmine is a server there who has been slowly earning Mia’s trust since she was a kitten.

Jasmine has rehomed Mia under the name “Helian.” “I have been loving on her almost every day for about a year and I am so excited that she is now a new addition to our little tribe,” Jasmine writes on Cats of the Boardwalk’s Facebook group alongside photos of Helian. The name is a variant of the scientific name for Myrtle Beach’s beach flowers, Helianthus Debilis, growing wild in the dunes.
