Estimated 3 Males Still Need Fixing at 24th Ave. S
After successfully trapping, neutering and returning (TNRing) three feral cats at 24th Avenue South off Ocean Boulevard South, an estimated three males are left to be contained for neutering, according to Laurie Peterson, founder of Cats of the Boardwalk.
The return of the three TNR’d ferals today also gave Laurie an opportunity to speak to a couple with “cat cred.” The local feline-friendly residents explained they’ve taken responsibility for feeding and TNRing the vast colony located at 24th Avenue South and they now estimate there are only three untipped males left in the colony located by the Compass Cove resort.
Over the previous week, a tortie, calico and tuxedo visited COTB’s traps at 24th Avenue South, then were taken to the not-so-neighborhood-located-yet-cheap spay clinic, Fix-a-Friend in North Carolina, along with another cat trapped at 11th Avenue South.
There are estimated to be at least a dozen feral cats roaming the dunes and parking lots of 23rd and 24th Avenues South at Ocean Blvd. South. COTB would like to thank the management and staff at Compass Cove for providing guidance and permitting us to TNR.
